Myles, I am in this for the long haul. There will be times when I am not watching a lot of shows you cover it there is a dearth of shows overall but I will elbe here so long as my budget allows
absolutely vibrating in anticipation for LaToya's OC coverage !!!!! literally just finished watching it in its entirety for the first time last night. pitching my friends on this newsletter, always, my favorite thing in my inbox <3
Happy to see Doctor Who coverage on the slate. I also like your hybrid solution for generating and filtering discussions with chat and then highlighting them on the main feed.
I think the finale of What We Do in the Shadows is actually this Thursday. They are doing two episodes.
As others have said, as long as you and the team are writing then I'm supporting with my wallet. Only wish I'd found this earlier.
I also have a suggestion / question: back in the AV Club glory days it wasn't just about episodic TV reviews but long form articles too. If the stretch goals to Episodic Classic 2/3/4 get met, would a series of articles be a viable alternative?
I haven't kept up with reviews for the last 6 months or so since Mythic Quest coverage concluded, because I'm not watching anything else, but I continue to pay (what I consider to be) monthly dues to enable this type of content and the attendant discussions to exist, particularly at the standard that has been maintained since I first signed up. It only takes a glance at the Old Place to see what an advertising model and 'selling out' really accomplishes in the long term: not much, and what was there before is falling apart and full of holes.
That being said, I'm looking forward to Rick & Morty and hopefully For All Mankind returning to the schedule. Whatever happens to Danny - hopefully nothing good - should create some lively discussion!
Bring back a Simpsons classic run so we can all just nerdily quote the show in the comments and argue over increasingly specific (and pointless!) minutiae and I will gladly double my subscription fee.
Nice to see Classics making a comeback as well, it's fascinating even on recent shows how much context changes with fresh eyes. I loved Justified when I watched it over the last 2 years but there was a definite "oh this was pre-Ferguson / BLM" thought that occurred in some of the episodes where Raylan goes off on his own. Similarly, watching The Americans (almost done with S5) given how Russia has, ahem, become more prominent recently
Very happy you’re going to cover Gilded Age. Season 1 was a mess but I watched the whole thing, of course. So the discussion might have some fireworks, which should be fun.
Thanks for the run-down. I wasn’t keeping up with much TV over the summer but have enjoyed the first two Ahsoka and am looking forward to Loki and Fargo, so I should be able to jump back into some discussions. I’ll probably check out Echo and may even give Doctor Who another try.
Also happy that you’re starting classic coverage and can’t wait to see what you end up doing there. My only (selfish) pitch is that I’ve never watched The Sopranos (only seen random episodes) and would absolutely be all-in on that.
Thanks so much for the rundown on the plan! Love this content and deeply appreciate the community. Happily supporting y’all with an annual subscription, and while a tiered system probably doesn’t make sense, I’d pay more for more shows.
It must be incredibly difficult choosing what, and what not, to cover. Very excited about the classic addition, and while I’m not interested in the O. C., I’m so glad this is happening!
I think you should offer a way for current subscribers to donate extra. I am a yearly subscriber and appreciate what you are doing here and would gladly donate more, if possible.
I’d been at the tipping point on subscribing for a while, but I’ll admit, it was coverage of The OC that finally reeled me in! Excited to dig into the backlog for shows I’ve watched before.

I have never seen The OC, so count me in.
Shocked no one has said this yet

Seems like I'll be reading a lot written by Caroline these coming months: Marvel Shows AND Doctor Who ! 🤩

Any word on whether True Detective is this year? Looking forward to that.
I didn’t realize we had official Doctor Who dates yet (besides Christmas?), exciting.
