I'm a fan of themed / unranked end of year lists. 10 shows that were so 2022, the 5 best shows of the year you're not watching, my favourite shows of the year, etc. But maybe there's also a 'state of TV 2022' piece in there that isn't about particular shows, but about where TV is going this year compared to last. I dunno!

Any hope for some Derry Girls reviews?

Two words for you, Myles: Chainsaw. Man. (Also: I've used Peacock more this month than I have since it launched (so as to watch Universal monster movies).

The Peripheral looks like it might be interesting.

It’s a Netflix show, so not relevant for week-to-week reviews, but it would be cool to see a piece or two on 1899, premiering on 11/17. It looks so great, and is by the Dark people, who have made some fascinating (albeit bleak) tv.

For year-end content, I always have the most fun with unranked thematic lists accompanied by overarching analysis. Like, “character arcs we most enjoyed” or “well-wrapped series finales of 2022”/“evolving ways in which creators approached series finales in 2022”.

The one show that jumps out to me is Slow Horses season 2. The first season was wonderful, and watching Gary Oldman tear it up as a cranky old spy should be argument enough.

I loved Bad Sisters and would highly recommend it! It was really entertaining and compulsively watchable (hour-long episodes that felt much shorter) throughout, and then the finale really moved me, and answered all its questions in a really satisfying way. I'm not surprised that it seems to have grabbed attention at the very end, because it ended really strongly (in the kind of way that makes the rest of the season feel even stronger in retrospect).

It's also just impeccably made, with tons of the dark humor that Horgan's so great at and performances that made everyone feel real and interesting. Apple TV+ just keeps making things that impress me.

As for later in the year, I do think the Crown would be interesting. I wonder if the structure of the community here would allow for comment sections to stay interesting even if we're all watching at different rates. I have no idea.

Taking a look at the Metacritic list, shows that stand out for possible reviews include The Crown and Dead to Me, though since they're both on Netflix that's maybe not ideal. (Also reading that list it's almost depressing how many cliche-looking Christmas titles come out in November and December.)

Is Ted Lasso coming out this fall? Probably impossible to know definitively.

As to year end Best Of, wonder if it'd be cool to present them like an awards show, but with more creative categories? Call it the first ever EMies Awards.

My possible favourite new show of 2022, The Lazarus Project, got picked up by TNT to air in 2023. I had no idea TNT even showed original shows anymore (apparently it's just this and Snowpiercer, which is already cancelled).

The Lazarus Project has already been renewed for S2, so I'm not worried about that, but I hope people watch it when it airs (or just find it through methods now).

TBH my main interest in Dahmer is whether it does anything new or profound then the multitude of accounts already on the record. My gut says not.

My two cents: I don't tend to follow what's hot for its own sake, but if there is enough to talk about, then by all means dive in. The era of streaming is well suited to revisiting old classics through new or wiser eyes. Could be interesting with the right subject?

I dunno about anyone else, but I'm still eagerly anticipating GDT's Netflix anthology series, which starts next week, and Amazon's The English, a period murder mystery miniseries which starts in November sometime. I am also hopeful that the miniseries adaptation of Fleishman is in Trouble (Hulu, also November) is as good as its pedigree.

oh, and I think Welcome To Chippendales premieres before the end of the year, which is the most insane story you've (probably) never heard

The Patient is worth a look. If possible, someone with experience dealing with fundamentalist family members or family in cults would be a good choice.

OK gunna suggest something my partner Josephine was asking about when I talk about the site.

Is there any chance to do any other reality shows? You mentioned The Mole earlier; I've noticed Big Brother might be an interesting discussion point as the CBS policy on casting has also made huge changes to the way people play that game.

And sadly we are both fiends for Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but I have no idea if that would fit into the theme of the site.

I'll just add my idea: any thought to look at earlier seasons of shows that would be returning next year (e.g., The Boys, Succession)?

I'll check out any lists, they always seem to get a good debate going. Glad Mythic Quest is being covered, it's an interesting show. Wouldn't mind the Peripheral being covered, mainly because I'm a William Gibson fan and one his adaptations has be to be good eventually, right?

Bad Sisters is on my list to watch. Sharon Horgan is great. I've watched the first episode but I haven't finished the rest. I will, though. Interview With the Vampire I've also watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. I'll be catching up on that soon. Looking forward to White Lotus season 2. I loved the 1st season, especially the music.
