Thanks for the shout out! I'm definitely pretty meh on the show overall, but I at least started having some fun with episodes 4-6 after a lot of boring prologuing in the first three.

Something I've always been fascinated by is that:

- the "fake oral history" print fiction format should, in theory, translate PERFECTLY into the "fake documentary" film/TV format, but...

- studios seem almost entirely unwilling to fully adapt these stories this way

I get it — the public perception/marketing conventions around a drama series/movie are just fundamentally different from documentary, and studios surely think there's more money/ratings/eyeballs in the former than the latter. But I still lament how much more gripping and interesting a fully-committed Daisy Jones "documentary" would be — just as how a "documentary" World War Z would have been infinitely more interesting than what that film ended up being (regardless of its merits, which it certainly has some).

did you watch Angelyne and/or Paul T. Goldman (both on Peacock) - both played around with the fake doc format in fun and interesting ways.

I have no idea where to put this comment, but Myles, can someone cover Rain Dogs? :(

With so much returning TV, the budget just can't stretch to accommodate HBO Monday co-pros, unfortunately.

I hate to be a "the book is always better" guy because it isn't always true, but the more you are dealing with shifting POV and internality the more it

I “read” Daisy and the Six a couple years ago but via audiobook. I ultimately gave it 3 out of 5 stars but definitely recommend the audiobook as it had multiple narrators and was very well done. I admit I am curious about the adaptation because of the music. Now I almost wish they could redo the audiobook, adding in the music, as an immersive experience. I guess I could go listen on Spotify.

Looking at my Good Reads review, I apparently didn’t like the ending. I had high hopes for the TV adaptation. Oh well!

I skimmed this article because I haven't watched the episode yet and probably won't for a few days, although I have read the book and it's on that topic that I am commenting.

Myles noted that his engagement with the book was off and on during travel, and I have loved/liked all of TJR's books that I've read so far to varying degrees, but I've found that all of them, including this one, have started slow and I had a couple false starts with each before I became deeply engaged. Might just be me and my well-documented ADHD, but with the exception of Evelyn Hugo (which I consumed with fire and enthusiasm) they all needed a little warm up for me. I wonder if the TV adaptation is mirroring the source material in that way. I will report back when I finally get a sec and watch.
