This show is so great, glad its back. It really feels like a classic sitcom to me in the sense that the characters and their dynamics are so well defined that one could just come up with any variety of plots (say, Nadja decides to start a vampire nightclub) and they all sound hilarious.
Welcome Noel, glad to have you here covering one of the best shows on television! I thought the episodes "kind" of felt like a letdown but honestly have been in withdrawal for Nandor and Laszlo, so even a "letdown" was supremely satisfying.
Nandor just steamrolling through his djinn wishes and paining red X’s on his harem portrait was top-tier WWDitS for me. I think Nandor became my favorite character after that episode last season where he joined a gym.
I have certain pop culture pet peeves that bother me a lot more than they should. One is when Iron Man or Spider-Man's shiny new suit gets busted up ten seconds into the fight. Another is when a character wastes wishes. Come on man - make a plan. Wish for a wand of wife re-deadening instead of blowing a wish on every wife.
That said, I'm glad to have the vampires back on Staten Island. I can't wait to meet Gizmo's special someone.
Just starting to go through these first few episodes, and honestly I don’t have any complaints about these first 2! It was just rip roaring funny. I also will never tire over a good Djinn story!
Happy to have you on board for these reviews, Noel! I definitely felt a little dissatisfied with how quickly they got through last season's cliffhanger, but "vampire nightclub" was all I needed to forget about it.
I'm interested in where they are going with this baby Colin Robinson. I'm guessing Nandor is wrong and this child is still an energy vampire just draining people in a different way. Either way, it is both hilarious and unsettling every time they show his face.
I re-watched both episodes to check all the quotes before I filed this review and I noticed in "The Lamp" that one of Nandor's wives begged Guillermo to take Toddler Colin Robinson away because she was "exhausted." So I think you're right!
Looking forward to hearing from Mark Proksch once this season's over what it was like to play the kid. Because it's really him doing all the expressions and such, it seems.

I was hoping Matt Barry was going to say, “Automated teller machine card personal identification number.”
Thanks for the great review!

I laughed just reading all those Matt Berry lines and hearing them in my head, what a gift.

Yes, I caught that line and yeah, it’s Colin Robinson, Energy Vampire!
