Glad to see this up and I'll be following these reviews, should they continue. I popped over to AV Club on Monday, didn't see a review over there but noticed Zack covered it over there, and thought "It'd be great if he did these on Episodic Medium". So I was quite pleased to see an email with the review.
With discussion of the show moving out of the hyper-focus zone it inhabited in Seasons 3 and 4, I think that Zack's thoughts are more vital than ever. I hope they continue, and that the comments become a civil place for people who want to discuss the show.
I watched the premiere and had a lot of fun with it and thought "the only thing missing is I can't read new Zack reviews of it on AV Club" so was pleasantly surprised to get this in my inbox today. Very much in agreement that Rick and Morty no longer being in the zeitgeist could be very good for the show going forward. It's understandable if this can't be a weekly thing but I will take what I can get.
I might not watch the show along with the episodes but did enjoy reading Zach's post. I think he captured my thoughts about the show pretty well so I would continue to read them here if they are posted. May even convince me to catch up!
Good review. Honestly, I didn't watch this night-of, either. It's kind of a weird break of tradition to have a chill episode like this where the premieres and finales are usually over the top. It felt strangely lucid, like the show has been sobering up for a year. It was never laugh out loud funny, nor was it edgy-while-huffing-it's-own-farts. I chuckled here and there, but also I was never bored. I wasn't clicking through tabs while it was playing.
I'm glad the zeitgeist is over, hope we get more episodes like this, and wonder if they're regretting having to make 70 episodes yet.
While the effortless absurdity of the early seasons has gone, the show continues to be clever and funny. I think my thoughts were reflected in Zack’s analysis. I would welcome this, Myles.
Weirdly perfect timing as my wife and I just got around to watching this tonight! Definitely agree with Zach’s take here, and honestly kind of appreciated the recap on previous seasons events. We’ve always been fans but never religiously followed the continuity as it was so stop and start before - having a nice concise reminder of events here in Zach’s review was wonderful. If coverage should continue here I’d gladly read it in whatever form it takes, or obviously whenever it posts.

After watching the episode, I immediately went to The AV Club to read Zack's recap, and I was confused and disappointed that there was nothing there, so I was really excited to get an e-mail notification about this!
I was very pleasantly surprised by this episode, and glad to see this review. I will definitely keep reading along if you decide to continue (especially since AVC has apparently dropped it).
Not much to add, as I also forgot that Rick and Morty was back and I fell off of watching it regularly early last season, but it's a show I've been meaning to catch up with and one that is fun to turn over in my head when it's firing on all cylinders, so I would definitely pop in to read if/when y'all pop in to cover it.
Definitely would love to see the reviews here weekly. I still very much enjoy the show and thought last season ended on an amazing note. I was surprised too to see that the next season had already started without fanfare.

I thought season 5 was a bit of a let down, but I'm still paying attention, so if Zack does cover it I'll definitely be checking it out.
