Finally getting around to watching these and wanted to drop a comment here to say how excited I was to see EM covering MQ. And like vseveral others, this was also how I found out a show I loved was back so Apple TV+ really needs to work on their promo game.

Looking forward to reading more of your insights Lisa! Lovely stuff here already. For what it’s worth my favorite bit from these first two episodes was definitely David’s increasing exasperation at the questions he was getting while reading CW’s letter. David Hornsby does exasperation so well, it will never fail to make me laugh.

So glad Episodic Medium is covering this show. MQ was one of the pleasant surprises I discovered during my 10 days of Covid isolation last year (I remembered we had 6 months of free Apple TV+ so it was this and For All Mankind) and I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. It was something to get me through the day and then I hit the first flashback episode and it took it somewhere special for me.

So is a dog farm a farm where dogs are farmed or a farm where dogs work as farmers?

I forgot this came back because I'm not convinced Apple+ has ever promoted a show except season 2 of Ted Lasso? Anyway--this was a good reminder about why I love this show. Ridiculous bits between the characters (Brad and Jo's....thing made me laugh the loudest) and a surprisingly heartfelt moving scene for CW's goodbye. I'm constantly amazed by the shows ability to balance those two extremes and still be very watchable. Looking forward to forgetting this showed released a new episode for a couple weeks then coming here after I catch up to chime in.

It's strange about F Murray Abraham not being on this show, but he's in White Lotus (playing another old creeper). I thought they did a nice job with the anthology episode of his last season, not so much the follow up in the present day but I think I need to rewatch last season. And a dog farm is where the dogs are the farmers.

You don't mention it but I really liked the montage blending the various discussions at the beginning of the first episode. It is not really a true original (like CW' ending 😅) but it was really well done and funny which is all I'm asking from this show.
