Rule of thumb me have had since season one is, if someone else is breaking one of society's unspoken rules and Larry calls them out on it, it good episode. If Larry just being an asshole, then it episode me could live without.
Wholeheartedly agree with the review. While it's not great Curb, it's at least new Curb, and I'll take it. It is strange that this feels exactly like another season 11 episode, but I think Keyla Monterroso Mejia is terrific so I won't complain too much about this season not distinguishing itself from the last.
Episode was good - not classic Curb, but I enjoyed it. I love Maria Sofia so I'm soooo happy she was back this episode!! And it was nice to see Auntie Rae again. I agree that the scene with Larry and the hotel worker walking in silence was great. Some of it felt a bit rushed and like bits didn't get proper payoff but overall I watched it very happily and am looking forward to the rest of the season
It's funny-- I started season 11 back when and never finished it; I just wasn't really feeling it after four episodes. But I went ahead and caught up on the rest before this season, and damn, I thought the second half of the season was really funny. (Larry just screwing around in the home after arriving to the party an hour early while the hosts watch him, baffled, had us screaming with laughter. Very Alan Partridge.)
They've been leaning into the Larry-as-Trump jokes a bit heavily, between the season 11 finale "perfect phone call" and the mugshot reference at the end of this one. It hasn't worked all that well for me because the joke has literally just been "I recognized that reference." I'd rather Larry be Larry, not someone else.
Poor Keyla Monterroso Mejia. Abbott Elementary is coming back this week, too, and I don't know if she'll be returning to her guest role there at all, but between these two shows she's already being typecast as "the most annoying human alive."
Anyway, this episode was fine. Even when Curb isn't top-tier there's usually still a good number of good laughs.
I loved everyone's delight at being reunited with Auntie Rae (especially Susie's fond "I remember Auntie Rae" comment). It's nice to see Larry like people every now and then.
My HomePod, next to the TV, started responding to Larry's Siri yelling. It was pretty amusing to hear the chorus. Amazingly, it never responds to the SNL musical guest outro of 'Tell Siri...'

The Siri bit really got me, mostly because it hit very close to home.

Note; My Siris no longer need the 'Hey' preface.
Mine too! It almost makes me wonder if it was intentional - make it a very meta joke since I could feel my blood pressure rising as my Siri got going
I thought this was the best episode in a while. I think my laugh to eye-roll ratio was higher than it was all last season.
I can do without the “ripped from the headlines” gags, but they were OK here. I chuckled at the mugshot.
Like most of you, I’m always happy to have another season even if the show is far from its peak.
