I meant to just watch the first episode and got sucked into all 3. Weirdly, for as tense and emotional as I've been, I've also enjoyed how relatively 'low-key' things are. I think, so far, the show seems to be able to wring drama out of regular circumstances quite effectively and I'd like to see it continue in that vein.
Glad this is getting coverage! I was so hooked by the first two that I watched half a dozen ER episodes (which I'd never seen before) by the time episode 3 was released.
Okay, this is amazing. And to see Noah Wyle with such a baby face as opposed to grizzled and in charge must be like whiplash. How are you finding ER so far?
Glad to see some coverage of this show, even if it's just a drop in. It's been a while since ER and I hadn't realized how much I missed this type of show as well the luxury of a long(ish) season.
While the ER force is strong with this one I appreciate that so far they haven't leaned too hard on the crazy patient of the week, er, hour trope. I'd like us so make it the whole shift with just "routine" patients and emergencies. Alas, what with Chekov's troubled teen running around out there I fear that episode 12 or 13 is going to involves a dozen high schoolers with GSWs being wheeled into the Pitt.
The interns collectively are the most TV of these TV characters, but Dr. Santos is especially grating. So far she's just been a string of "I'm an ambitious doctor and I don't have time to make friends or to care about stupid patients' feelings" tics, not an actual character. What do you want to bet she secretly has a heart of gold?
I can't believe I didn't recognize Mackenzie Astin. He got old. I sure am glad I didn't age 40 years since he was on Facts of Life.
First off, I love the idea of Episodic Reactions. Fully endorsed from my end.
Re: The Pitt, I know I'm being played, but I really like Mel/Dr. King so far. Part of that is definitely my longering fondness for Taylor Dearden after Sweet/Vicious (and For All Mankind, to a lesser degree), but I also feel like, of the interns, she's the one most willing and able to be a doctor, both in terms of technical skill and in terms of emotional empathy.
I am curious about Dr. Javadi being a literal nepo baby, with two parents as doctors, and how that'll play into the season, especially with her weirdness about Dr. Mackay's ankle monitor. I am sure she is actually talented, but "earned her spot" with two doctor parents, and at the same hospital where her mother is a renowned surgeon, is a but much, and I'm surprised that's not more of a point of contention all around.
Okay I just figured out you’re doing this! I was looking for “The Pitt” tab and didn’t find it, but I had this feeling I received an email about it. Mystery solved! It’s an inbetweener.
I like this show, especially Noah Wyle, but I am not totally sold on it yet. However, I keep returning to it. The doctor asshole is something I don’t feel sure about. Do I have to spend time with this person? Or is she a good source of conflict in this story?
One thing I know is this is not a binge show. It would be too relentless for that. Once a week I can do.

I can’t wait for the “1pm to 2pm” episode where we see Dr. Robby eat a sandwich and scroll instagram reels on his lunch break.

Chekov's school shooting seems so likely I'm actually expecting them to subvert it by having the kid come back in with a self-inflicted GSW.

I get why the show is a bad fit for ongoing coverage, but I’ve been really been enjoying it and appreciate this piece!!
This is INCREDIBLY watchable but man, Carter got old*!!
*we all did, John.
You're listing nepo babies and skip over Mackenzie Astin, son of Gomez Addams and Patty Duke!?
Meaningful to ask ourselves at what age someone stops being a nepo “baby.” (My vote is 40).
