Review: What We Do in the Shadows, “The Railroad” | Season 6, Episode 4
In which Sean gets a fake job and Nandor loses a real one
It has been suggested—including in the comment section of this very newsletter — that when What We Do in the Shadows introduced Guillermo’s new employers Cannon Capital Strategies in this season’s second episode, we were meant to consider the possibility that the company is actually staffed by creatures of the night. Sure, they say they work nocturnal hours to “stay up on the Asian markets.” But still…isn’t there something suspicious about how quickly Guillermo got hired? And while Nadja has been partly responsible for how quickly he’s advanced—something she’s annoyed he doesn’t give her credit for—it’s hard not to wonder if our former familiar is being targeted by some supernatural cabal. There might—might—be more to this story.
And if there’s not? Well, either way, Guillermo got to help out some rapacious predators…again.
There are two primary plots in “The Railroad,” which—railroad-like—run in parallel, right up until the moment when a cranky Nadja makes them collid…
