Review: Ted Lasso, "La Locker Room Aux Folles" | Season 3, Episode 9

At the beginning of this season, Ted Lasso upped a number of Richmond’s players to series regular status. This doesn’t always necessarily mean an increase in attention: Christo Fernandez, for instance, hasn’t really had much more to do with Dani than he did last season. However, for those paying attention to the opening credits, it definitely raised the expectation that we’d be more invested in their lives both on and off the pitch as the season progressed.
This proved to be a “yes and no” situation. Yes, the show has found space in its ballooning runtimes—anyone else breathe a sigh of relief when they saw this was “only” 44 minutes?—for Sam’s political war over immigration and, more significantly, the ongoing story of Colin’s sexuality. However, until “La Locker Room Aux Folles,” it’s never felt like the show was as committed to fleshing out “the team” as a corner of this story in the same way as they were clearly com…
