Review: Ted Lasso, "(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea" | Season 3, Episode 2
The quest to land a star striker dovetails with the show's efforts to jettison its star
If you’re going to prepare a show and its audience for the departure of its star, an episode like “(I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea” is pretty much your textbook strategy.
Put simply, Ted Lasso is entirely incidental to everything that happens in this episode of Ted Lasso. It’s Rebecca who takes point on the effort to land an unexpected transfer when conceited striker Zava makes it clear he plans to come to England, while Trent Crimm Formerly of The Independent embedding with the Greyhounds becomes almost entirely Roy’s story as soon as he curses the former reporter out on sight. And obviously, the latest developments at Keeley Jones P.R. are all about fleshing out this new corner of the show, as Keeley hires a friend and tries to make a new one while figuring out how to juggle her new management role.
