Review: Survivor, "You Better Be Wearing a Seatbelt" | Season 42, Episode 8
Probst is probably excited about Survivor Voltron, but there's not much else to be enthused about here
The aftermath of a chaotic merge vote is always an interesting moment for Survivor: theoretically, it should be easy for the majority voting alliance to just pick off someone who doesn’t win individual immunity, but that’s presuming that the vote was as simple as it seemed. For instance, when we return to tribal council, we discover that despite voting for Lydia with the majority, Maryanne was not actually involved in the plan specifically. Similarly, although Omar was the one who organized the last-minute scramble to eliminate Lydia, those outside the vote think he was on the bottom because he didn’t have a vote, which means he’s keeping his ties with Romeo, Chanelle, and Maryanne for a rainy day.
“You Better Be Wearing a Seatbelt” doesn’t devolve into absolute chaos, necessarily, but it becomes a story about different main character narratives operating within…
