Review: Survivor, "Proposterous" | Season 43, Episode 8
Everyone basically agrees to sit out this week, despite clear tension in the majority
Technically speaking, “Proposterous” is about the instability of the emerging majority within the Gaia tribe. It’s observed early on that some of the other members of the “seven” were surprised when Sami joined their ranks, but as we know from his talking heads Sami has something to prove as a stealth teenager. He joined in the vote because he wants to be close to the action, but it’s the same reason he immediately starts disrupting the simplicity of a large majority picking off the outsiders. With Owen winning immunity, and Gabler seemingly drawing no additional scrutiny, and Noelle’s name just never coming up for some reason, Jeanine is the default choice, but that doesn’t help Sami, and so Sami throws out Ryan’s name as a potential blindside.
The thing is, no one is particularly against this idea, but there’s not much enthusiasm for it either. It is, I would argue, another consequence of the early merge, where the game is still so young, and thus players are less likely to…
