As Bluesky emerges as the Twitter replacement we’ve been searching for in the wake of last week’s election (you can follow me here), it’s a reminder that reality TV always benefits from being a collaborative viewing experience. Last week, I think lots of us were a bit puzzled by Rachel’s shot-in-the-dark play, but through TikTok and the comment section, we came to an explanation that Rachel confirms as the truth early in this week’s episode: she played it to gauge everyone’s reactions to figure out if she needed to play her idol.
It’s an inherently smart play, and it’s interesting to see how the early moments of the episode affirm that Gata is not as dead as Sam imagines it to be. Yes, there’s no way that the three remaining Gata members can continue to work as a collective voting bloc without activating the same Tuku/Lavo alliance that blindsided Sierra.
