Review: Survivor, "Humble Traits" | Season 48, Episode 2
I missed who said this episode title, but there's not a whole lot of humility in this season's idol finders
It’s really striking to see how easily people forget how power works on Survivor the second they find something that could give a person power.
We saw last week how Sai turned a potential target on her back into a strong position in the tribe, successfully organizing the Stephanie vote in the process. But this doesn’t mean that she has long-term power: it’s easy to blindside someone early in the game, especially someone who shifts their demeanor so significantly once they’re in power. Sai isn’t just in a comfortable position: she’s so comfortable that she actively recommends violating the sacred ritual of the “practice round” when they draw lots to determine who will head on a journey just because she won said practice. It’s a mafioso-style performance that naturally pushes her tribemates to wondering “wait, why are we treating her as untouchable when we could just vote her out and find her idol when it’s back in the game?”
