Review: Survivor, "Caterpillar to a Butterfly" | Season 42, Episode 12
Omar's story comes to its climax as he takes center stage, for better or for worse
It was historic that Survivor entered the merge with an even 4-4-4 split between the three original tribes, but the most impressive thing is that one of those three tribes survived until the final 6. The “Taku 4” followed different paths: Lindsay survived a dumb twist, Maryanne found two hidden immunity idols, Jonathan continued to dominate challenges, and Omar played a tremendous strategic game to keep himself in the driver’s seat even when everyone else thought he was still in the background. And here they sit, together near the end.
Well, “together” is the wrong word. Lindsay has wanted to get Jonathan out for a while, Maryanne has known she was on the bottom of her alliance for a long time, and Omar’s strategic game has always been willing to swallow one of his allies if it fits his game.
