Review: Survivor, "Brought a Bazooka to a Tea Party" | Season 45, Episode 2
All it takes is a cold open for the tide to turn on the premiere's most chaotic player
Survivor is a fundamentally complex social game, but it’s arguably no more challenging than in the aftermath of a difficult tribal council, where feelings are hurt and exhaustion is high. It’s easy to say something you don’t mean, or something you shouldn’t say, and the editors are obviously there to highlight it in the next episode’s cold open.
This is particularly true in instances like this one, where an entire contentious tribal played out and then someone not even involved in the conversation ended up quitting. As a result, the Lulu tribe is basically just continuing the fight they were having after Emily “Brought a Bazooka to a Tea Party.” And it plays out as you’d expect: Emily isn’t backing down, Sabiyah is still pissed, and the latter walks away while the former literally says “I didn’t realize she was so sensitive.”
But I was shocked how, after a week to reflect on it and a new collection of moments to consider, I turned a corner on Emily almost immediately. I unders…
