Review: Survivor, “Bob and Weave” | Season 47, Episode 13
Two full hours, two full tribals, too few surprises
Andy’s blindside of Caroline was a crucial turning point in season 47 of Survivor, but it didn’t feel like a turning point for his narrative. From the second you saw the jury’s almost dismissive reaction of the fact that he “flipped,” you could sense that the momentum it achieved wasn’t going to belong to the man most central to Operation Italy.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that Rachel has full control of the game through at least one more episode: with both her idol and her block-a-vote in place, she has the ability to control who stays and who goes. No one knows she has that power, mind you, which means that there’s a huge disconnect between the game they think they’re playing and the one that actually exists. If not for Rachel deciding to bring Sue in on the plan (not knowing that she has the other idol), it would have been like two completely different realities: everyone believing Rachel is the easy vote as the “threat,” except for Rachel who knows she won’t be …
