Review: Only Murders in the Building, "Ah, Love!" | Season 3, Episode 5
A romantic evening brings revelations, reveals, and red flags
Writing about murder mysteries with an engaged commentariat does sort of suck some of the mystery out of it. When Tobert and Mabel reviewed the footage of Ben in his dressing room, I was quick to point out that he was clearly yelling at cookies, which spoils a central red herring in its own right. However, last week’s reveal of the “Fucking Pig” lipstick message on his mirror didn’t ping my radar in the same way, until “Santos L. Halper” in the comments noted that it was clearly connected: Ben wrote the message to himself, enraged at his lack of self-control around sweets.
So while “Ah, Love!” goes in circles around first Joy and then Loretta, with some bonus theorizing between Mabel and Tobert at Jonathan’s cabaret performance, we aren’t really following the bouncing ball in the same way as someone who hasn’t been sleuthing online.
