Review: Only Murders in the Building, "Flipping the Pieces" | Season 2, Episode 7
A run-in with a familiar face continues the trend of the two seasons' mysteries collapsing into one
The central theme of Only Murders In The Building’s second season has been that this isn’t really a second season at all. Sure, the mystery of Tim Kono’s murder was solved, but Bunny’s murder ensured that the Arconia remained embroiled in scandal, and everything they’ve uncovered about this murder has led them back to the details—Charles’ relationship with Jan, Oliver’s ties to Teddy, Mabel’s bloody past—that case was built on. Rather than opening up an entirely new line of investigation, Bunny’s death has instead sent the characters back through the gauntlet they thought they had just escaped.
“Flipping the Pieces” is an exploration of Mabel’s corner of that story, as she wakes up after having stabbed Glitter Man on the train to discover she is in Theo’s apartment. It’s pure coincidence that he was on the same train as she was, an after witnessing the man attacking her he picks up a clue and then takes a shocked Mabel home to rest.
