Things finally boil over in a climactic moment for the show's central duo
Well, that was a fight three seasons in the making. After spending most of an episode doing a somewhat typical round of Ian and Poppy bickering over the office ecosystem, the surface level feud ballooned into a knock-down, drag out fight over whose fault it is that their partnership isn’t working.
The show has toyed all along with Ian as a stereotype of a certain kind of creative visionary—a handsome fit white guy who’s arrogant, legitimately talented, and a little out of touch with reality due to his success. But it’s always offered him up as a welcome rebuttal to how defensive and possessive of success that type of person can be. It’s not just that he’s capable of recognizing the abilities of others. It’s that he seems to want to actually nurture that success instead of becoming jealous and protective of his own victories.
