Review: Loki, "1893" | Season 2, Episode 3
A time-hopping Loki introduces its new Big Bad—or does it?

It’s been pretty surreal to watch this season of Loki evolve from a show I found incredibly promising but also fairly flawed in season one to basically my dream version of what this series could be. A lovable ensemble? A return to the Loki/Mobius buddy cop dynamic? A more playful tone with a distinctly episodic flair? Setting an episode at a turn-of-the-century World’s Fair?!? It feels like Marvel has been reading my dream journal, and it’s almost overwhelming to process.
For as much as I can try to objectively analyze what does and doesn’t work about a particular TV show, investing in an ongoing series is also a distinctly personal experience too. And since “turn-of-the-century dramatic farce” is my idea of heaven (there’s a reason I love Doctor Who so much), I was utterly delighted by this episode for nearly all of its 49-minute runtime.
