On a very special Abbott Elementary, Janine learns to let go

It is still early days here for Abbott Elementary’s third season, but it should be interesting—once all is said and done—to see just how this whole district fellowship storyline ends up looking as a whole. As I’ve written in my past few reviews, there are a number of things about this story that seem to exist in order to allow the Abbott Elementary writers more opportunities to keep stories fresh and approach things in a new way. This week’s episode, “Smoking,” continues to show just how true that is, as the audience gets confirmation that the substitute teacher situation for Janine’s class is actually a revolving door, allowing for even more new interactions for Janine (and the rest of the Abbott Elementary staff) along the way this season.
