Review: Abbott Elementary, "Festival" | Season 2, Episode 19
AVA Fest brings the community together to save Abbott and dunk on some dorks
With all the discussion during this Abbott Elementary Legendary Charter arc of how turning Abbott Elementary into a charter school would do nothing to support the community, it makes sense that that same community coming together is the thing that officially puts a stop to it all. With the talk of the impending school board meeting about the school’s transition to a charter, it did seem like the time to save the day would come in that moment, perhaps with rousing speeches from the teachers and parents (and maybe even children) of Abbott. Of course, taking it to the school board arguably would be a bit of a retread of the first season's penultimate episode (“Ava vs. Superintendent”), so it also makes sense for the series to instead wrap things up with a preemptive strike in the form of AVA—“A Very Abbott”—Fest (“Festival”).
While I haven’t expected Abbott to become a Legendary Charter School1 during this arc, I have worried that the way it would get out of it would be less…
