Review: A Murder At The End Of The World, "Chapter 6: Crime Seen" | Season 1, Episode 6
The penultimate episode confronts a serial killer in the past—and offers clues on how to deal with one in the present
There are powerful reasons why our brains are forever revisiting intense moments from the past. Traumas, catharses, small instances of ferocious personal evolution…they all get burned into our long-term memory in ways the everyday can never hope to achieve. As just about any respectable researcher on the subject can tell you, there are a huge variety of ways people react to trauma, but when reliving those memories, it’s not unusual for it to emotionally feel like it’s happening in the present. (A happy note: Most people who get treatment come out of it not just stable, but actively grow and evolve in the long run.) So when something in the here-and-now not only recalls, but repeats traumas experienced previously, it’s like that past isn’t past. It’s staring us in the face—and on a giant metaphysical IMAX screen that makes everything else look insignificant. Darby Hart could tell you all too well.
This is a lean and mean episode of A Murder At The End Of The Wor…
