That I still don’t know what to fully make of The Acolyte is both a good thing and a bad thing. For the sake of not dragging us down at the start, let’s get the good out of the way: “Night” is an extremely action-packed episode of television and uses its brevity to its advantage. Roughly 20 minutes of the installment—which is, like last week’s episode, just 34 minutes including the recap and end credits—is dedicated to a series of intense fight scenes between Mae’s mysterious Master and a group of Jedi led by Sol. Alex Garcia Lopez, who directed last week’s episode too, does a fine job of jumping between the various fights, leading all the way up to a climax that does not skimp on death or a “surprising” revelation.
