Review: Survivor, "Run The Red Light" | Season 46, Episode 10
Anyone else's friends or family react with alarm at this week's meltdown?
The removal of an alpha male figure is a sneakily transformative moment in a season of Survivor. It’s not that Hunter was actually contributing to the game: like many before him, he was barely a social presence, and despite being part of a central alliance it never felt like he was driving any of the decision-making. When the tribe gathers back at camp after his exit, they’re mostly just going back to the strategy conversations they were having before they decided the threat of the physical threat also having an idol was enough to justify an attempt at either flushing it or delivering a blind side. With Hunter gone, they move on casually to what was Plan A.
However, when we get to an episode like “Run The Red Light” with both a reward and an immunity challenge, there’s a clear shift in the players’ belief that they can compete when Applebee’s or immunity is on the line. If Hunter had remained in the game, I don’t think most of these players would have thought they had a chanc…
